We sat down with 11 Bit Studios' senior writer Pawel Miechowski to talk about a new game they're publishing called Beat Cop - that lets you work the beat of a street cop.
The game is being developed by Pixel Crow, a new Polish studio consisting of veteran developers Maciej Miasik and Adam Kozlowski.
"Beat Cop basically is a deep nostalgy feel brought through time to our mother time," says Miechowski. "If you think about cop shows from the 80s [or perhaps even more so the 70s] like Starsky and Hutch or Streets of San Francisco, Kojak and Columbo. Name many and any and they had this feel of a good or bad cop trying to somehow fight crime. We're bringing this nostalgy back in Beat Cop."
"You are balancing all the time between the cops you may or may not be loyal to, the mafia you should probably be staying away from, but maybe you need to talk to them to solve some other crime story. Or if you're punishing your community members with parking tickets or you're taking bribes or maybe just letting them go away, because you want to be the good cop. But if you do that your captain may not be that happy as well."
Beat Cop is expected to release on PC during the fourth quarter this year.
