505 snaps up the Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons IP

505 Games has paid Starbreeze $500k for the rights to the IP for their adventure game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. The title, released in September 2013, went on to sell 800k copies for the publisher, hence their acquisition.

"The sale represents our final transition to the digital strategy," Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint said of the deal. "With Brothers we've created a strong and critically acclaimed IP, which we now feel can be best nurtured under a new owner."

"Going forward, we will continue development focused on expansive design, a concept proven with the Payday-franchise. Brothers will continue to generate awe and admiration for the great storytelling standard Josef Fares set under 505 Games watchful eye."

Fares has since set up a new studio, Hazelight, and their still unnamed game was teased at the end of last year.
