A new game in the Ys series has been announced

The game is due to come to PS4 in Japan next year, and will take us to the Prison City of Barduke, in Esteria.

Falcom has just announced (via Siliconera) that they're making a brand new game in the Ys series, called Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, which will feature everything you know and love in the series - from giant boss battles to skill attacks, acrobatics, and more.

The game will be set in Barduke, which is located in Esteria in the Gllia Erdlingen region, and we'll see an enormous place known as "Prison City." This is where we'll meet creatures known as the Monstrum, the mysteries around which you'll have to solve as you go through Prison City.

Not much more is known about the game as of yet, other than the fact it will be released for the PS4 in Japan in 2019. Below you'll find some screenshots though, which will give you a taste of what we can expect.
