Earlier this month developer Lilith suddenly announced that they would be dropping the highly anticipated P.T.-inspired horror title, Allison Road, but gave no explanation as to why. We have now had a statement from Lilith, although it has raised more questions than it has answered.

It was expected that the statement would come from their now-former publishing partner, Team 17, but the post on Facebook comes direct from Lilith, and reveals absolutely nothing.

"After a long consideration between Team17 and ourselves, we have reached a mutual agreement to end our collaboration on publishing Allison Road under Team17's Games label," the developer said.

"Sometime[s] things pan out differently than expected as game development and publishing have so many layers of complexity... We'd like to especially thank everyone for their support through-out, it has and will always be appreciated."

This vague statement has got already angry fans even more infuriated and asking questions such as "Why not go back to KickStarter or find another publisher?" and "what does this mean? Do Team 17 own Allison Road now? Was there a disagreement? Did they try to have more input than you liked?"

We've yet to see replies to any of these questions. The whole situation is very sudden and somewhat mysterious, again, raising questions about what actually happened. We were expecting more clarification with this statement, but we have none. Basically, nobody has a clue what's going on.

After Hideo Kojima and Konami fell out and Silent Hills was cancelled (and the P.T. demo was removed from PSN), there has proved a huge demand for similarly crafted experiences (see the new demo for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard for further evidence of this). The Kickstarter for Allison Road had been doing pretty well before Team 17 stepped in and agreed a deal to publish the game. Now, with the situation as it stands, it seems that horror fans hoping for a game of this type have an uncertain wait ahead of them.

We've reached out to Team 17 and will let you know if they come back to us with a statement.
