Angry Birds has been around for a decade and a whole generation of mobile gamers have grown up slinging disgruntled avian projectiles at precariously arranged structures. After appearing on mobile devices and later consoles, it was only a matter of time before the franchise broke new ground, which it did earlier this year with Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, a game that takes the series into virtual reality.

With that being the case, we caught up with Resolution Games' Tommy Palm at GDC and talked to him about the VR title, its upcoming PSVR release, and the AR version of the game that's heading to smartphones. We also learned about an upcoming free update that'll bring Spooky Mode to the game, which will offer lots of new levels and a new antagonist (called Dr Frankenswine, naturally).

"We continue working actively with the game," Palm told us at GDC. "We just announced that we are releasing a mobile version called Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs and so you'll be able to download it to your smartphone, and walk around the different levels and find a good angle and shoot from there [...] It's definitely a title we want to continue working with."
