Former Mass Effect & KOTOR game director and current Bioware GM Casey Hudson has now made it official: Anthem just hit alpha. The announcement came via a personal letter posted at Bioware's blog, in which Casey reviews the studio's trajectory in parallel with his own career.

Why? Because Casey feels that Anthem could mean the same as the classic Baldur's Gate meant back in the day, or at least he's "having the exact same feeling" now they're reaching the final stretch of development, in terms of how both games try to bring adventurers together.

The alpha milestone was passed last week, "meaning that every part of the game is in, and functioning. It's a ton of fun to play, and full of engaging character moments and storylines. But it's also exciting to see people around the office (and at our partner studios) grouping together for adventures in this new world we've created".

It seems like the team in Canada is full of energy, and that the game is on track for its scheduled February 22 release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. How does it look to you so far? Leave a comment below.

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"It engages and entertains even if it is a rather distilled and disjointed experience compared to the studio's usual work."
