Anthem was the result of many pitches by Bioware

20 to 30 of them, in fact

Anthem was finally given a bit more of the spotlight at this year's E3, and while the launch is still a way off - marked for February 22 - the reaction to what was shown seems to be mixed, as it's now properly revealed that Anthem will be unlike any other Bioware game.

In fact, it turns out that the concept of Anthem was picked from a bunch of different pitches by Bioware, as Casey Hudson said in an interview with Game Informer (transcript by WCCFTech), explaining that 20-30 pitches were delivered before the team decided on Anthem.

"We had people from all around BioWare and throughout the team pitching ideas," he said. "We did 20 or 30 different original [pitches] during the first pass. We'd all go off, and you're inspired by something [...] and you're, 'Hey, I think I know how everything should be" and you write that all out and you pitch it. It's really interesting, because [...] you get a value system around what you like and what feels right, but then you start to say, 'We liked this one part of [this pitch], but the rest of it didn't work, but we like this other thing and the two sit really nicely together.' That was the process we used to get off of the blank page."

Anthem

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"It engages and entertains even if it is a rather distilled and disjointed experience compared to the studio's usual work."
