Anthem's live services may be rolled out post-launch

Although EA doesn't want to forecast what'll happen too much.

Anthem may be developed by Bioware, who have traditionally delivered fairly straightforward role-playing games, but this is set to be slightly different, as it will deliver a more ongoing experience with new content being added and online cooperative play emphasised. With that comes monetisation, or "services" as companies like EA describe it, although the game may launch without these.

In EA's recent quarterly financial briefing, CFO Blake Jorgensen spoke at length about the monetisation strategy for Anthem, and here he says that it's a possibility that the game will launch without them.

"We're careful not to put too large of a forecast in there," Jorgensen said, "and clearly [Anthem] will impact this year as well as next year as we not only continue to sell more into the next year but as we start rolling out the live services associated with that game."

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"It engages and entertains even if it is a rather distilled and disjointed experience compared to the studio's usual work."
