"It's Lit - A guide to what teens think is cool" is a comprehensive study published by Google (here's the PDF magazine) and based on an extensive survey of more than a thousand youngsters, performed by its Brand Team for Consumer Apps in the States (so results may vary significantly in Europe and other regions), and between all the interests brought to the table, there's of course several references to the video game field (what's cooler than video games, after all?).
The study indicates that those in their twenties think that PlayStation is the coolest video game brand, whereas the new generation of teens (once again, in the US), consider Xbox as the coolest brand. Beyond video games, the top 10 brands for Gen-Z (the generation after millennials) are YouTube, Netflix, Google, Xbox, Oreo, GoPro, PlayStation, Doritos, Nike, and Chrome, in that specific order.
There's also a top six of most popular game titles among US teens, and according to this research, with no specific order, these are The Legend of Zelda, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Grand Theft Auto, Pokémon, Minecraft, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
The complete document also offers gender interests comparisons, brand clouds, and a bunch of other conclusions and facts. Do these results surprise you, and if so, why?
