Arkane Lyon has been collaborating on Wolfenstein: Youngblood with Machine Games, another game that featured during Bethesda's E3 presser, but the studio has also been working on something new, a title called Deathloop.
The game is built around two rival characters, Colt and Julianna, and it's set during a time of folly (as the developers describe it) where the world seems to have gone mad. In some sort of ultra-violent Groundhog Day scenario, the two characters are fighting NPC creeps and each other, with the world seeming to reset every day, with one character trying to preserve this cycle while the other is trying to break it.
How exactly it'll all work remains an enigmatic mystery, but given how much we've enjoyed the studio's past works, we're certainly intrigued. The promise of being able to approach each mission using the studio's signature gameplay style certainly appeals and it sounds like both characters will have a deadly repertoire of tricks that they can utilise during combat.
According to the developers, Deathloop combines a "mind-bending" story with "meticulously designed levels", and we'll be able to attempt each scenario as we see fit. It is, after all, an Arkane game.
There's no word on when we'll get our hands on this one, but we're certainly interested in seeing more of Deathloop.
