Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets has revealed some new details about his current PC project Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, explaining it as a narrative-driven single player story that also offers a persistent open world like Day Z or Minecraft, but "instead of blocky, it's triple-A quality environments in this bubble".

Like his previous work, the game will skip between different points in history, but instead of a timeless war between two factions gameplay and story revolve around key moments in history where humans stood at a crossroads between evolution or extinction

While the creator calls the game episodic and narrative-driven, he points out there's scope to explore once certain objectives have been met.

"You could call it a mission or a level - we still haven't decided what to call it - but each time we introduce a new feature that is laid with the story of humankind...We're putting a lot of Hollywood stuff in," he explained. "And then we leave you with a systemic, persistent open world where it becomes Day Z or Minecraft. But instead of blocky, it's triple-A quality environments in this bubble."
