For the lucky group of people who have got their hands on a PS5 or Xbox Series console, the Asus ROG Swift PG32UQ is certainly an attractive monitor to choose. The device allows players to take full advantage of the latest gaming hardware, as it has a refresh rate of 144hz, HDR support, and outputs in full 4K. It also has a moving image response time of just 1ms for a fluid experience, whether you're watching movies or playing games.

The 32-inch screen on the PG32UQ almost fills the monitor's entire surface area, and the only form of decoration on the front is a small Republic of Gamers logo. Things do, however, get a little crazier on the rear, as there is a much larger illuminated version of the same symbol that can be customised within the monitor's settings menu. Just like other ROG peripherals, you can change the colour of the RGB lighting, and you can choose whether you want this light to remain static or cycle between different shades. These customisation options are certainly a nice touch, but they felt a little pointless with the monitor often facing the wall.

Sadly, there is no remote control included in the box, to move through these visual settings. Instead, users have to rely on using four plastic buttons and a scrolling wheel on the back to navigate through its abundance of options and this can feel pretty tedious. Another design choice we're not overly fond of is that its HDMI ports on the back are tucked away and feel awkwardly placed. We felt like we were twisting around just trying to plug our Xbox in, and due to this, we restricted ourselves to just having one device connected at a time.

With the screen being 32 inches, the PG32UQ doubles as both a great PC monitor and as a television that can be used in a more traditional console setup. However you intend to use it, its adjustable stand makes it simple for you to achieve the most comfortable viewing experience. Adjusting the high is simple, as you just need to grab the screen and slide it upwards, and this can be moved from 0-100mm. Additionally, you can also tilt the screen backwards by 20 degrees, and you can swivel it 25 degrees to both the left and right.

As we touched on earlier, support is included for HDMI 2.1, meaning you'll be able to hook up both the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Most modern games here can be displayed to their full potential, as it has a refresh rate of 144hz and it's capable of outputting in full 4K. The monitor also has HDR support, and we were really impressed by its vivid range of colours. It didn't matter whether it was causing mayhem in the dark and dreary streets of Grand Theft Auto 3's Liberty City, or dipping back into the explosion of colour that is Super Mario Odyssey, everything here just popped and didn't feel washed out or dull.

We were also pleased to see that the PG32UQ has built-in speakers. Sure, these aren't the loudest or the most crystal clear, (we actually found them to sound pretty tinny), but it was great not to have to resort to purchasing an additional pair of headphones or speakers; here you can pull it out the box and game right away. If you do have some headphones, though, there is fortunately a 3.5mm jack located on the rear.

Before we conclude, we should mention that the PG32UQ is certainly sure to raise a few eyebrows when it comes to its pricing. At the time of writing, the monitor is retailing for £849.99, which is pretty much double the price of a PS5 or an Xbox Series console. This - coupled with the fact that there are plenty of excellent and much larger 4K TVs on the market - we can see being a major turn-off for many gamers. Still, if you do have the money to spend, this is a quality product that will allow you to get the very best out of the latest hardware on the market.

Brilliant and crisp display. Comes with built-in speakers. HDMI 2.1 support suits new gen consoles.

Very expensive. Settings can be a pain to fiddle with.
