Mundfish yesterday introduced the world to Atomic Heart, a new and upcoming post-apocalyptic first-person adventure set in Russia that's filled with strange creatures and angry robots.

There are certainly Fallout vibes thanks to the jovial atmosphere established by the chirpy music and some of the enemy designs, but that atmosphere is cleverly juxtaposed by what looks like a grim vision of the future. However, careful inspection of the trailer (which we've added below) reveals a clear emphasis on melee combat, so perhaps the comparisons end there.

Otherwise we can see a mix of internal and external environments, drones and robotic enemies, strange creatures, and brutal melee takedowns. You can see it in action via the trailer below, and there are also a few screens to check out if you so wish.

Abused by a talking duck and running errands for a horny AI - Annihilation Instinct is just as weird as the main game, but is it also just as good?

Mundfish is taking a crack at a BioShock-style game with this action-heavy title set in an alternate Soviet Union.
