A few weeks ago, we reported about the Toronto Defiant's decision to release former analyst Dennis "Barroi" Matz. At the time, we mentioned that Barroi could land pretty much anywhere, but now we know that he has found a home for at least the 2021 season.

Revealed in one of the Boston Uprising's Overwatch League articles, Barroi will be part of the coaching staff, in an assistant coaching role. Barroi first came to prominence in the scene as he designed the statistical tool for Overwatch called Winston's Lab. Since then, he has been a sought after coach known for his prowess in data analytics.

President of Gaming at the Uprising Chris "HuK" Loranger recently spoke about the signing saying; "Barroi's knack for crunching numbers makes him an invaluable analytical asset, but he has also grown greatly as an Overwatch coach since he first joined the Defiant. In my conversations with Barroi, he seems to be the hard worker and talented coach we're looking for to round out our 2021 coaching staff."

The Uprising is stated to still be building out its 2021 active player roster, but most notably the team did sign talented free-agent Terence "SoOn" Tarlier to the roster, recently. Compared to where Boston finished last season, it's hard not to look at this new team and coaching staff with a little bit of hope.
