The swan song of Rocksteady's stellar Batman series has been a major disappointment for PC players. Riddled with a vast array of bugs and issues, Arkham Knight launched virtually unplayable and was unceremoniously removed from the Steam store and store shelves.

Than was 5 months ago and the game has since received various patches to bring it up to standard with its console cousins. The most recent of these was just released, aimed at fixing a range of minor bugs and most importantly ironing out framerate issues with improved VRAM management.

However, a report by Eurogamer's Digital Foundry has found that the patch still doesn't resolve the game's underlying issues, particularly when using graphics cards with 2GB of on board graphics memory.

"The game's built-in VRAM allocation meter strongly recommends that you drop down to low quality textures in order to eliminate hitching and stuttering on 2GB cards - a state of affairs that just isn't good enough."
On a more positive note the patch also included the November DLC for the game which offers new story missions for Catwoman and Robin, and skins based on the upcoming Batman v Superman movie.

While problems still persist the game is in a much better state than at launch. But bear in mind Warner Bros is offering refunds on Batman: Arkham Knight and its Season Pass, regardless of playtime, until the end of the year.

REVIEW. Written by Ricardo C. Esteves

"The plot is virtually nonexistent, activities are repetitive and everything ends in an hour (two if you want to search for the extras)."
