Battlefield 4 timed-exclusive content for Xbox One

At Microsoft's E3 conference Patrick Söderlund from EA and Dice, proudly presented Battlefield 4 to the audience. Unfortunately for Mr Söderlund - despite his enthusiasm - the game wasn't quite ready to launch on command. Despite the technical difficulties Söderlund dealt with the heckles from the crowd with good grace and after a short time the demo was ready to launch.

Featuring the new Frostbite 3 engine, Battlefield looks like a genuine next-gen experience. The uncut gameplay footage took place on an aircraft carrier. Shaky cam and special effects made the action seem real as Battlefield 4 showcased much of what we have come to expect from the series with a healthy dose of next-gen flair.

Frantic combat and intense duck and cover shooting, environmental interactions and in-action cinematics featured heavily. During a moment of frenetic shooting a grounded plane has its breaks shot away causing it to tear through enemy defences before sliding off the sinking vessel.
Following the open warfare on top the aircraft carrier, the gameplay ducked into narrow corridors to show off some close-quarters corridor combat that requires quick reflexes and a predatory instinct. As the carrier falls apart the integrated cinematics come to the fore, which thanks to Frostbite 3 look incredible.

The most notable thing from the presentation was the revelation that DLC for Battlefield 4 will be coming to Xbox before PS4. Previously Sony had a timed-exclusive deal with EA for Battlefield 3, but it seems that MS has stolen the march on their competition this time around.
