Among the many announcements made last night during Oculus Connect, veteran British studio, Rebellion, announced that they're working on Battlezone's reboot - the legendary arcade game produced by Atari in the 80s - for Oculus Rift.

The game, in fact, has already been announced at E3 last June, but at the time the outfit hadn't confirmed the launch of the game on Oculus Rift as well (only on PC and PS4 - the latter with PlayStation VR), but apparently Rebellion's two co-founders, Jason and Chris Kingsley, managed to put things in order. Here's their joint statement directly from the press release:

"The Battlezone arcade machine was an inspiration not just for my brother and me, but for a whole generation of developers. When Facebook kicked off their VR segment of the F8 conference, the original 1980 Battlezone was the game they opened with - it's that important in gaming history."

"We've come a huge way since then, but the development community needs to work together to help make VR a success, and Oculus are definitely playing their part. The technology, the hardware, it's finally all there - and make no mistake it's game experiences that are going to take VR headsets to the mainstream, not film or TV."

At the moment no release date has been announced, but Battlezone will likely be made available on PC and PS4 around time of the Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR launches.
