In the attached Nintendo Switch trailer, published by Nintendo of America on the official Nintendo channel on YouTube, you can clearly see someone playing Minecraft on Xbox One. This rarity is part of the cross-play trailer promoting the release of the Better Together version of the game for Switch that lands today on the eShop and also for the first time at retailers (existing owners just need to download it again for free).
The Switch-bound Better Together update means that from today the game is fully compatible with Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, VR platforms, and Android and iOS devices. And that's exactly what the trailer demonstrates, with Xbox and Switch players enjoying the game together in perfect harmony. Of course, the PlayStation 4 version doesn't feature at all, much to the continued disappointment of fans calling for more cross-play opportunities.
Maybe that'll change in the future with Microsoft and Nintendo showing the world that you can still compete while at the same time opening up a platform for cross-play.
