According to The Grapevine Black Panther reached the $1 billion dollar milestone at the global box offices this weekend, raking in $562 million in the U.S alone, and a whopping $41 million during the weekend!
This makes it the second-highest grossing superhero movie in American film history (beat by The Avengers which did $623 million domestically.) It is also the 7th largest unadjusted domestic grossing movie of all time.
In second place this weekend we find A Wrinkle in Time, also a Disney movie, which means it has been a really good weekend/month/year for Disney. A Wrinkle in Time, directed by Ava Duvernay, and starring Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon, made $33 million this weekend alone.
