At BlizzCon this past week there was a lot of big announcements to talk about, including the fact that Overwatch 2 was finally confirmed after multiple leaks, and at the event we caught up with Executive Producer Chacko Sonny and Lead Writer Michael Chu to talk about the various parts of the sequel.

"There's a whole new experience that we're planning on delivering for Overwatch 2 in PvE," Sonny said. "There are two elements of the PvE experience. The first one is the Story Missions, and the Story Missions deliver sort of a hero-curated - so a set of heroes that we select and we provide for you to play through a series of missions that push the linear narrative forward, that tell the story of effectively what's happening with Overwatch shortly after Winston initiates his recall for the Overwatch heroes."

"The second part of that experience is the Hero Missions. The Hero Missions are deeply replayable content that allows the players to select different locations around the world, maybe different difficulty levels, different enemies groups - like whether it's Null Sector or Talon or some other groups that we haven't talked about yet - and really play those over and over again with the intent to really test out and progress their heroes through a series of new, unique talents."

PvP is still a core part of the experience though, and Sonny continued by talking about a mode called Push:

"Push is a brand new core multiplayer PvP mode that we're adding for Overwatch 2, and the basic mechanic of it is there's a robot, who we refer to as TW [...] who will move a barrier or a barricade marker deep into enemy territory as he's surrounded by players from the opposing team."

"So if you are on one team and you have TW push the barricade further into the enemy's territory than the enemy has done to you, you win after time expires. Now, one of the great things about this mode is that it's a symmetric multiplayer mode, so not only in map design but also the objectives for the players are the same."

Are these appealing modes?
