With Hearthstone's new Descent of Dragons expansion comes a new keyword of Invoke, and when we talked with Game Designer Peter Whalen and Engineer Sarah Chen at BlizzCon, this is the very first thing we asked about.

"The keyword Invoke is used with the hero card Galakrond, which we introduce with the Descent of Dragons set," Chen said. "And so Galakrond is a hero card that can be empowered and evolve over time. So what Invoke does is, if you use Invoke twice, then Galakrond will become more powerful. If you use Invoke twice again, then Galakrond will become even more powerful."

Galakrond the Apocalypse is used as an example in the video below, and "Invoke as a keyword means to power Galakrond, so every time you use it you get a gift from Galakrond himself, which is in the form of whatever the hero power is of the respective class they're using".

"With each expansion we release a whole bunch of cards," Whalen said. "A lot of them are very powerful, so a lot of what happens with the meta game depends on what our players do. There's tons of powerful archetypes that they can try out, lots of things to experiment with, and we're excited to see how that develops."

Are you intrigued by this new keyword?
