Anyone who has followed Contenders Overwatch over the past few years will probably know and fear the name British Hurricane, the London Spitfire's Contenders counterpart. The reason for that notoriety is due to the team's staggering success, which developed over the weekend as they were crowned the European Gauntlet 2020 Champions.
The finals event of which occurred on Saturday saw Hurricane take on Obey Alliance in a first to four map wins match. The series itself ended rather briefly as Hurricane defeated Obey in a swift 4-0 fashion, netting the Championship in a very dominant style. The Hurricane was such a force again that they only lost one map across the entire tournament, and now haven't finished lower than first in any of the events the team entered in 2020.
The Hurricane has always been a fearsome team, as over the duration of its existence it has never finished in less than third place. With this being the last Contenders tournament in Europe for 2020, the question has to be raised, will Hurricane be equally dominant next year?
