For the last few years, the British Hurricane has been the team to beat in European Overwatch Contenders, but with the recent promotion seeing the former Hurricane roster move to the Overwatch League, it seemed like the organisation might finally be mortal in the tier-two scene. However, the recent Contenders Season 1 March tournament saw the Hurricane blow the competition out of the water, adding another victory to its belt.
The finals series that concluded on Friday, April 2 pitted the Hurricane against Ex Oblivione, and while the series was a close one, seeing each map push each team to its limits, the Hurricane ended up on top, defeating its opposition 4-2 in the end. Considering this is a revamped Hurricane roster, it's hard not to assume that this team won't become as dominant as its predecessor in the EU Contenders scene. We'll have to wait for the next tournament to see if the Hurricane can replicate its success.
