Perhaps it got less attention what with it being more of a remastered definitive edition, but the truth is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is looking great on the Nintendo Switch (it runs steady at 60fps both on TV and tabletop/handheld mode) and is also addressing one of the few issues with the original Wii U game: the lacking Battle Mode.

That's why the reveal trailer for the game was focused on the revamped multiplayer mode, and for the same reason that's what you can mainly see in this gameplay from by the Nintendo team:

The video is around 20 minutes, mainly showing the new Battle Mode (there's some racing in there as well), and the new wheel-peripheral for the Joy-Con controller is also shown (see additional pictures below). As you can see in the footage, and based on community requests, there's new variations of the balloon-based Battle Mode, a selection of new and returning battle courses, and the comeback of some strategic items.

Mario Kart 8 DX is also getting a few new characters, including King Boo, Dry Bones, Bowser Jr., the Inklings (Boy and Girl) from Splatoon, and all the content previously launched as DLC. Besides, it also seems the new expanded roster (from 35 to 42 drivers) will keep the Mii characters, despite what was first thought when the game was unveiled last week (they're actually getting a brand new lobby for the online mode).

With all these new and improved features the most demanding fans only have a couple of final requests for Nintendo: bring Diddy Kong back and add a couple of new tracks. Given the sheer volume of content both the original and this new version of MK8 got, players shouldn't rule it out.
