Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order first released simulation game Cities: Skylines four years ago yesterday, and in the past year since the last anniversary the game has sold another million copies to bring the grand total up to six million so far, as revealed by a press release.

Other statistics have also been revealed, including a total playtime of 16,938,045 days and a total population of 2,185,317,000,000 (over two trillion people). 39,733,045 cites have been build in this time, along with 7,007,128 Paradox Plazas, and there have been 1,911,067 unpopular mayors and 175,970 mods created. Last but not least, we also find out that the most popular building is the Wind Turbine no less.

"When we first launched Cities: Skylines, we knew it was special, but we never dreamed how far players would take it," said Sandra Neudinger, Cities: Skylines Product Manager at Paradox Interactive.

"The community is the heart and soul of the game - we're just here to give them the tools they want and need to make it their own," added Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of Colossal Order.
