We already told you at the end of last month that Cities: Skylines, the highly-acclaimed city builder developed by Colossal Oder and published by Paradox, was getting the Snowfall expansion (the second following After Dark) during this first quarter of 2016. Now, both companies have confirmed an imminent launch date and some details on the paid-for update, as well as info on some free features that are also on the way.

The Snowfall expansion will be available to purchase and download on February 18, 2016 on every platform (Windows, Mac, Linux) and will add the snow-covered features listed on this trailer:

Besides that, on the very same date, every Cities: Skylines player will be able to download and apply a new update patch (for free) that will fix, add and tweak a bunch of different things. Here's the highlights you can expect from this free update:

• Rain and fog-based cosmetic weather for existing maps outside the new "Winter" themed maps.
• A new Theme Editor for map modding, allowing players to create new Map Themes ranging from different terrain styles to incredible alien worlds.
• An expanded UI for public transportation management
• New Chirps from everyone's favorite in-game social media avatar, New Hats for everyone's favorite in-game social media avatar, Newfound respect for everyone's favorite in-game social media avatar.
