We talked to C&C producer Bryan Farina during E3 about the current state of the game, and the current status on rolling campaigns into the title.

"We have work in progress on that," he explained about campaigns. "The issue is that campaigns represent a lot of effort, so you have to have a lot of the game framework done, the balance has to be there, you have to get all the map-making and scripting processes down. And campaigns are built on top of all of that.

"And so we are still in the process of building the foundation to were we can make great campaigns; but we've already started working on that. The bad news is that they won't be ready for launch this year, but the good news is that we're hoping to have the first wave of those campaigns coming soon thereafter.

"All of the work you do to get to the point were you can start making the campaign, you can actually play multiplayer, because there's a lot of other work that goes into making the campaigns - it's a much larger burden. We didn't want to delay, delay, delay the actual release of the game, because now we're live we can always add in the campaign, we can add in more content as the service is ongoing."

We also asked Bryan about expanding from Generals and bring other C&C universes into the game.

"I don't think we could just re-skin what we have. There's very different fan expectation for what makes the game be Tiberium, for what makes the game Red Alert. We have to be very sensitive to that, to provide the experience the fans of those universes want."
