Sledgehammer Games have just launched their third Call of Duty title with WWII, and it's been highly praised so far. While at the review event in London, we had the opportunity to sit down with co-founder at Sledgehammer, Michael Condrey, and one of the topics we touched on was the recent news that Visceral Games is closing down.

Condrey was lead director on Dead Space back in 2008, so we asked his thoughts on the situation:

"You know for me, eight years at Activision and Sledgehammer Games, has been the best part of my career," Condrey proudly stated. "I could not be more thrilled with working on Call of Duty and the support that Activision has given us. You never want to see any studio not be successful, certainly not one you've worked with in the past like Visceral, I've a lot of respect for what we did there, I was there for quite a while.

"I think more great games is better for gamers, I think more great competition is better for game studios, because it pushes each other to do great work, and at the end of the day, it's always in service of fans. I think there's plenty of amazing talent out there trying to do really innovative things in lots of different franchises that I value. Whether it's incredible things that Bungie are doing with D2 [Destiny 2], or our partners at Overwatch with the Blizzard teams. So yeah, you'd like to see the industry continue to make more world class games for fans and the more games the better, so yeah I was saddened to see them close."

We have to say we agree; Visceral created some fantastic games, Dead Space among them. What do you make of the Visceral news, and what do you think of WWII so far?

"The campaign is phenomenal, and the Zombies mode is probably the best it's ever been."
