The creator of Conker's Bad Fur Day, Chris Seavor, recently published his first game alongside his studio Gory Detail, entitled The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup, but despite the fact that he considers the process of creating the game an absolute joy, subsequently marketing and ultimately selling the game is quite different - a "nightmare" in fact.

In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz Seavor describes the process that every indie developer must go through, attempting to create awareness around their titles after development is completed, adding that he "hates" it.

"We launched it with very little fanfare... or the most we can get with a marketing budget of 5p," he explains. "I'm most comfortable tinkering with gameplay. When it comes to actually trying to sell it, it's a nightmare. I just don't enjoy it. I dread it, actually. It is much easier to make a game than to sell one, at least as far as I can tell."

The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup was in development for four years, and even though sales have been sluggish, the team is working on bringing it to both iPad and Nintendo Switch. It does seem, however, that Seavor and his team have the freedom to move onto another project once the porting is done.

Have you checked the game out?
