One game that we got a good look at during E3 this year was the new Contra game, which has the subtitle Rogue Corps. It was actually one of the last titles we got to see during this year's show, and after our demo of the game, we got to talk with Nobuya Nakazato about the new title and what it has to offer to fans.

"Back in the day it was a two-player game but now, to add a more modern touch to the game, he wanted to make the game available to be able to play offline and online, and also be able to play multiplayer - not only just with two people, three, up to four players," Nakazato-san told us via a translator.

"While still allowing the game to be very fun and easy to play, he definitely wanted to also have those hard, crazy elements that make you very immersed in the game."

"The story takes off where it's after the alien wars and the world has been saved and is peaceful," we were told during our chat, "but things happen and it gets crazy again. So you get to really experience how this storyline ties in with the alien wars."

During our interview we also talked about the transition into third-person, plus the addition of some new mechanics:

"One thing we did add to this new Contra is the hack and slash kind of elements where you can actually customise your weapons. We have over a hundred different types of customisable weapons."

Contra: Rogue Corps is set to hit PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, and you can see our preview and a dev walkthrough below.
