Winter is coming to Crusader Kings II with the release of the long awaited Game of Thrones mod version 1.0. This update sees the title exit beta and now has "pretty much everything in it" that the mod team had planned for V1.0.
The mod (which can be downloaded from moddb.com) incorporates the complex plots and politics of George RR Martin's phenomenally successful fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, with the grand strategy of Crusader Kings.
Gameplay sees players battle to control the iron throne. Rather than recreating the narrative of the books step by step, the mod will allow players to forge their own stories in the World of Westeros giving them the opportunity to bring their favourite House to victory.
Highlights from 1.0 include:
- Completed integration of World of Ice and Fire material
- Integrated some Horse Lords DLC features
- Added many new government types
- Others/White Walkers improvements
- Started a chronicle overhaul
- Plus many other additions, tweaks and fixes
Crusader Kings II was originally released back in 2012 and has since seen the release of 10 (!) major DLC expansions as well as numerous minor ones and free updates. We were happy with it back when it originally released (see our review), but it has grown even better since.
