Secret religious cults, battle notifications on the map and more arrive today with the latest Crusader Kings II update.

Paradox Interactive, the developers of Crusader Kings II, have a tradition of accompanying each major DLC release with a free update. Today sees the release of Monks and Mystics, another substantial content addition, followed by Update 2.7 that's free for all players.

Contained in the latest update is a redesigned inventory system, an improved character finder, a more efficient plotting interface, battle indicators on the map notifying you of where battles will take place, secret religious cults, enhanced game rule settings for your personal preferences, and much more. You can read the full changelog here.

Paradox have also advised that while saved games from previous versions should work in 2.7.0, they recommend finishing ongoing games before updating the game.

The Monks and Mystics DLC, as you might have guessed, is focused on religion and the spiritual world. You can pledge your faith to God, build churches and defend the faith against heretics and heathens. Or, if you're so inclined, you can defy God and try to unlock the secrets of the universe, join underground religious cults to weaken the church or unlock immense and terrible powers with the forces of darkness.

You can read more on Monks and Mystics here.
