Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's beta client was patched last night, and Valve have included some pretty big changes to the game. The biggest change by far is that the classic map Inferno, which has been part of the roster for 15 years, has been overhauled.

While the update to Inferno is mainly graphical, there have been a few changes to certain areas of the map which will have a huge effect on the map's strategy. For starters, bombsite A has been opened up considerably, going from a covered area full of boxes to a mostly open-to-air site, which lots of clutter removed. On top of this, the area leading up to bombsite B, known strategically as 'banana', has also been opened up, making it less of a death-trap for those on attack.

For the most part, "Infernew" has been well-received by the community, apart from a few gripes; the skybox has been considerably lowered, giving less opportunity for long smokes and flashes, for instance. However, as the map is still in beta Valve will be listening to the community and making changes according to what people think.

This isn't the first time a map has been in CS:GO. Earlier this year the same thing happened with another classic map, Nuke. This time around, though, the reception has been much better, as many consider "Newke" a terrible map to play competitively.

There were a few other changes to general gameplay in this update, too, though many of the changes are minor. Head over to the official CS Blog for a full set of patch notes.
