This past weekend Dallas Fuel hosted the first ever home matches for the Overwatch League as it starts rolling out the home and away format slowly in Season 2, and among the eight matches played over two days Dallas Fuel beat the Los Angeles Valiant 4-0 on the Saturday.
"The amazing passion from the fans made this weekend truly special," said Mike Rufail, owner and CEO of Envy Gaming, the esports organization that owns the Dallas Fuel. "We made history at the Dallas Fuel Homestand Weekend and showed the world why esports is one of the fastest growing forms of sports competition and consumable entertainment that fans of all ages from all over the world can enjoy. This is just the beginning."
"It felt amazing for us as players. To play in front of a crowd that size on the stage with the roar of the crowd echoing in your ears. This was an amazing experience that as a player I will never forget," added Dylan "aKm" Bignet of the Dallas Fuel. "We have the best fans in the world."
This event was sold out, with 77% of the ticket buyers from Texas, meaning it bodes well for the future of home and away matches in the future.
