Datamine points to solos and duos coming to Apex Legends

At the moment it's only three-person squads that can jump into the fight together, but these files indicate that's about to change.

A recent PC datamine has revealed that solo and duo modes could be coming to the newly released battle royale game Apex Legends, which was a surprise release last week and has taken the gaming landscape by storm, hitting 25 million players in just seven days.

Fortnite dataminer ShiinaBR discovered the modes by looking at the PC game files, noting two lines of code named "2-man squads" and "SOLO_MODE". Players have been wondering whether alternate modes will come to Apex Legends, as the main competitors all have multiple modes including solos, duos, and four-person squads. The roadmap of upcoming content which kicks off in March with the Battle Pass doesn't mention the additional modes, but it's safe to say that's likely due to the fact that this wouldn't be seen as new content.

Apex Legends is built around a three-person squad play style, so it remains to be seen if more modes will come, and if they work well once released. We'd assume different team sizes are certainly in consideration at least, since competitors offer that variety.

What modes do you want to see in Apex Legends?
