DICE, EA's Stockholm based studio, makers of the Battlefield games, won't focus solely on the popular franchise. The simple reason is that EA fears that would make the talent leave, according to an interview OXM conducted with EA Games' Patrick Söderlund.

"The Dice guys are roughly 300 people in the Stockholm studio; not all of them are working on Battlefield things, and that's intentional, because we don't want to become a Battlefield factory."

"The minute we start saying 'you're going to make a Battlefield game for the rest of your life', they're going to go some place else. So for them to make great Battlefield games there need to be other things for them to do as well."

DICE have been losing some senior talent as of late, including Patrick Liu (producer on Battlefield 3) who left for Rovio Sweden and David Goldfarb (lead designer on Battlefield 3 single player) who left for Starbreeze Studios to work on Payday 2. Rumours of Mirror's Edge 2 are as always circulating, but it remains unknown if that is the non-Battlefield project Patrick Söderlund refers to.
