Leaked/teased a couple of days ago and obviously expected, it's now official: Dirt Rally 2.0 is real and will release in five months' time, this time on both PC and consoles simultaneously. The announcement marks the return on what is considered the very best rally simulator ever made (by us in particular).
Codemasters promises six rally locations with "handcrafted stages", and, in terms of licensed cars and tracks, the game will include both the FIA World Rallycross Championship and "eight of the official WorldRX circuits at launch", which directly points to additional DLC. That DLC will actually be delivered following a two-season format, each adding three or more locations and five vehicles.
The most tempting of the cars announced so far is naturally the Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec, but the PR mentions Ford Escort MkII, Lancia Stratos, Subaru Impreza 1995, Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2, and Ford Fiesta OMSE SuperCar Lite.
The brief, one-minute trailer below shows classic and modern models of Volkswagen, Audi, Ford, and the likes, and what looks like even more dangerous environments, if the original wasn't challenging (and rewarding) enough.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is set to start its engines on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 26, 2019.
