Recently Doom creator John Romero teased an announcement of an upcoming project, and now we know what he was teasing. Via press release, Romero has unveiled Sigil, a spiritual successor to the original Doom from 1993.

According to Romero's website Sigil picks up where the game's fourth episode leaves off.

It consists of nine single-player levels, as well as nine multiplayer maps. It will be released for free in the form of a WAD in February.

It's actually an unofficial mod for the original game made by its creator, and you can even pre-order it as a collector's edition for $39.99, which consists of an oversized box and a 16GB USB drive which looks like a floppy disk, or an even fancier version that will set you back $166 and features an art print, a coin and a statue.
