As we reported last month, Blizzard is working on a remastered version of the first StarCraft, as well as the Brood War expansion, but the developer has shown that they aren't forgetting the original versions. The game has just been updated, and both StarCraft and Brood War are now free to all Blizzard (previous Battle.net) members, so if you want to download one of the best real time strategy games ever made, you can do so by clicking right here.
The game's new version, 1.18, adds compatibility with all modern Windows settings, a new Observer mode, an option to display actions per minute, replay auto-saves, and many other new features. You can check the full patch notes for a detailed report on what's new if you're interested, but if you're waiting for the remastered edition, that should arrive later this year.
Do you think this is a good way to get newer players on board?
