Downwell is a fantastic little roguelike platformer that has you jumping downwards and into increasingly deadly waves of enemies with nothing but a pair of gunboots to keep you company.
The title landed first on PC and iOS before dropping on Android the next year in 2016, and it followed later that year on PlayStation 4 and Vita. Now, in early 2019, this punishing little gem of a game is making the leap over to the Switch, and over the holidays it was confirmed that the game would hit Nintendo's console on January 31.
Following on from that bombshell, it was revealed that the game's creator-in-chief, Ojiro Fumoto (or Moppin as he's otherwise known), has left the employ of Nintendo, where he'd been working last year, so that he could once again go indie.
"I was working at Nintendo for most of 2018 but I quit at the end of the year to pursue being an indie dev again," Moppin explained. "Working there was an incredible experience but ultimately I found my passion to simply be making a thing I want to make. So yeah, I'll get working on that this year!"
We can't wait to see what he comes up with next. Check out our review of Downwell here to find out why we're so enthusiastic.
