The E3 conferences have all wrapped up now, but we've been given so much to look forward to. Countless games have been announced and shown off, and we've had a number of fantastic trailers to feast our eyes on. It was hard to pick out the best, but we gave it our best shot. Here's our favourite trailers from E3 2016.

FIFA 17

First up we have a trailer for the quite surprising new addition to FIFA 17. Called The Journey, it follows the story of Alex Hunter, an up-and-coming footballer who can join a football team of his choice. Complete with cut scenes and a story, The Journey looks to be the 'campaign mode' for FIFA 17, something that the game has never had before. Whether or not it is as good as it looks will be decided by how in-depth the mode goes into the story of Alex Hunter.

Halo Wars 2

We didn't get to see any gameplay in this one, but the gorgeous cinematics of this trailer, along with the announcement of a beta being available right now, is more than enough. The trailer shows a Brute Chieftain and Captain Cutter heading to meet each other on a chaotic battlefield. Upon their meeting, it zooms out and we get a taste of the potential scale of Halo Wars 2 battles. The first game by now defunct Ensemble Studios was great, and with the kings of war, The Creative Assembly, behind the wheel, we are immensely looking forward to this.

We Happy Few

This is an ad:

We Happy Few was one of the most interesting games on show at the ID@Xbox showcase, that showed us a dystopian 1960s world, where everyone is controlled by pills called 'Joy,' that force you to perceive the world as a happy place without any misfortune. The five minutes of gameplay we saw showed the player character becoming a 'downer' - someone who doesn't take their Joy and sees the world how it is. Compulsion games have done a great job with this title, and it really has a Bioshock feel to it.

Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 was one of the more popular games of this E3, and we've finally seen a goodly slice of the game. This trailer was the first to show us that gameplay, along with a brilliantly realised cinematic section that gives us a taste of some of the vehicles and possibly arenas we'll be doing battle in. It certainly shows off what the Frostbite Engine can do. The trailer also delivered footage of the colossal airship, which is to be the largest ever controllable vehicle in a Battlefield game.

Prey

This fantastic trailer does a great job showing the return of Prey, which we thought we'd seen the last of, after development of the original game's sequel was cancelled. This game, simply entitled 'Prey,' is a reboot of the series, and this cryptic trailer shows us little, aside from the fact it is set in space, and will be action-packed. You play as Morgan Yu, an experimental subject on board a space station, who will use weaponry and other means to stay alive against an alien invasion. Bethesda has only said that the game will release in 2017, but this trailer is enough to hold us down for now.

HQ

Tekken 7

For fans of Tekken, this beautifully put together CGI trailer followed by a little gameplay is more than enough to build up the hype meter. The trailer sees Heihachi come up against Akuma, as both characters fight each other in the most beautiful realisation of Tekken yet. Bandai Namco are definitely trying to get us in the mood for when this releases in early 2017. It currently boasts a roster of 29 playable characters, and there is potential for more to be added before now and the game's official launch.

HQ

South Park: The Fractured but Whole

This hilariously well-done trailer pokes fun at Hollywood superhero film franchises, and sets up the story for the game in typical South Park style: with edgy humour and borderline offensive jokes - we wouldn't have it any other way though. The game touts an upgraded combat system, and has switched up the style: from warlocks and wizardry, the theme of the last game, to superheroes. Each character has their own persona and 'superpowers,' and you can customise your character as you see fit.

HQ

Detroit: Become Human

Set in a future where androids are a part of daily life, Detroit: Become Human follows at least two playable characters, both of whom are androids themselves, who will be forced to make decisions that have an impact much further down the line. One playable character is named Kara, who is an android that achieved sentience and is on the run in the city. The other is a member of the organisation hunting Kara's kind. It is Quantic Dream, developers of games like Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit, that are creating this game, so we have no doubt it will be full of depth and have a brilliant story.

HQ

Final Fantasy XV

This trailer gave us another good look at some gameplay, accompanied by a catchy piece of music made by Afrojack. We see Noctis and his crew get into some scrapes, along with footage of them riding a Chocobos and fighting a number of sinister looking enemies. Final Fantasy XV has been in development for ten years now, and Square Enix look like they have genuinely put their heart and soul into it; it will hopefully be a milestone when it drops in September.

HQ

Titanfall 2

Our first taste of Titanfall 2's multiplayer showed us a ton of new features, including grappling hooks, brand new Titans, and loads of new ways to combat the enemy. Respawn have added six new Titans in all, each with their own unique abilities, but we haven't seen them all yet. The game will actually showcase the emotional capabilities of the
Titans, and their bond with their pilots, and we'll undoubtedly see more on the game before it releases in October.

HQ

Dead Rising 4

Dead Rising 4 sees the return of Frank West, and he was introduced in the coolest way possible. It's been a decade since the original Dead Rising and West's initial appearance, and this Christmas we'll be playing as him again, with beautiful graphics, more zombies, and a whole bunch of creative new ways to kill the horde. Capcom seemed to have really pushed the boat out in terms of weapon and vehicle crafting this time around, and we see super-strength suits and a fire-breathing Triceratops skull helmet.

HQ

God Of War

It's been rumoured for quite some time, but here it is: God of War, with a Nordic setting. The way the game was announced was fantastic, opening the Sony presser with ten minutes of gameplay that showcases the combat, graphics and setting of the game. It looks like this time around Kratos is playing the role of father, but whether he'll be able to keep it up whilst slaying giant beasts is yet to be seen.

HQ

Death Stranding

Kojima's latest game, and the first from his new studio, is called Death Stranding, and the trailer is easily the strangest of the event. Norman Reedus returns as the (assumed) protagonist of the game, this after the unfortunate cancellation of Silent Hills. Naked men, babies, and hordes of beached sea creatures serve to further confuse the viewer, but it's likely there are hidden messages everywhere. It's fantastic to see Kojima back in the saddle, creating what will most likely be a brilliant game.

HQ

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild harks back to Zelda's roots. Where in the first game you could explore as you see fit and take on paths in any order, you can do so once again. You can free roam from the very beginning, with a few systems like cooking and temperature to spice things up a little. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is shaping up to possibly be the best Zelda title of them all, and it's coming next year for WiiU and NX.
