It has been quite a while since fans of Westwood's classic real-time strategy series were told some really good news, however, after all those sleepless nights waiting for the return of the series, Electronic Arts has now revealed that at least two games from this classic series will be released in 4K.
The development push is being led by Petroglyph (with help from art-focused studio Lemon Sky Studios), which somewhat fittingly is a studio created by Westwood veterans. What goes around comes around, it would seem.
EA teased the project recently, but now we've gotten something more concrete to look forward to, as the first game to be remastered is Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn, which will then be followed by Red Alert and all of its expansions (Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath) because it "wouldn't be the same without them".
This news will certainly delight diehard fans who grew up with Westwood's old strategy gems (including a fair few GR writers). In the statement shared over on Reddit, Electronic Arts was also careful to point out that these remasters will not contain any microtransactions, so that's even more good news.
