Treyarch's keeping a close eye on the world eSports in approaching Black Ops 2's multiplayer, its Director of Communications has said.
When asked about the newest Call of Duty's multiplayer, John Rafacz explained how the team are trying to balance the core gameplay alongside matching growing trends in the FPS scene.
"There are two thing shaping the multiplayer mode. First is the notion of challenging assumptions. There's that core mechanic that millions of Call of Duty fans love," he explained to GRTV during an E3 interview. "You don't change that. But there are these things that could evolve, that could advance gameplay in new and unique directions, and this is something [the team] are taking to heart.
"Next is the emergence and trends being set by the competitive gaming scene," he continued. "So when you talk about eSports, and how they're shaping the way we look at competitive gaming in the multiplayer experience, these are two things that are factoring into how these guys are approaching multiplayer. When it comes to Elite, you can count on deep integration there."
