The very first official tournament in the new iteration of the Halo Championship Series came to a close this past weekend when the Kickoff Major Raleigh 2021 took place. The tournament, which boasted a prize pool of $250,000 brought a bunch of the best Halo Infinite players from around the world together to compete in a LAN format, as a first look at what the immediate future of Halo esports will look like.

After a couple of days of competition, which even included an open bracket for fans to have a shot at the big bucks, the event came to a close following the conclusion of the grand finals, which saw Cloud9 face Eunited.

Due to the format of the event, the pair had to face each other in the Winners bracket finals, a match that saw Eunited fall into the Losers brackets to take on FaZe Clan for another shot at C9 who was awaiting them in the final match. Eunited knocked out FaZe in a close 3-2 series, before once again facing C9 and again failing to defeat the North American organisation, losing the match against C9 4-1.

This result has seen C9 walk away with $140,000 in prize money, as well as a hefty chunk of HCS points, which will be helpful when the competitive scene picks back up in the New Year.
