Despite being one of the most successful and renowned names in the Overwatch Contenders scene, the time of the British Hurricane has come to an end. Revealed in a blog post, the team will cease operations in 2021, with all of its players and coaches set to leave and have to find new homes for 2022.

"It's with a heavy heart that we announce that we will be discontinuing the British Hurricane team," said Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO and co-founder. "We want to take this time to thank all our incredible players, fans, and reflect on all the great years we had together."

While it's sad to see the team leave after so many successful years of operation, Cloud9 has mentioned that it hopes fans of the Hurricane will continue to support the London Spitfire Overwatch League team on its 2022 campaign.

Speaking about the decision to cease operations, Spitfire general manager Ysabel "Noukky" Müller also added that she was "extremely thankful" for being able to work with the Hurricane over the years and that she is "proud" to have helped various players make it into the OWL through the Hurricane.
