"We've got dynamic clouds there now, so you can look up into the sky, think there's a 50/50 chance of rain, and do those gambles."
Likely in no other game would such a sentence be seen as so revolutionary. But then this is F1 2011. Tire changes are weighed on such gambles, and thus can mean the race is won or lost.
Speaking to GRTV about the fundamental appeal of the sport and the intricate changes made to the 2011 edition, Codemasters' chief game designer Stephen Hood explained the how even the weather system accurately portrays and influences track-side tactics.
"When I go outside and wonder whether it's going to rain, I look up at the sky," Hood explained. "That's exactly what a lot of the teams end up doing when their technology fails them."
The designer also touched upon the improved multiplayer and a co-op campaign and more - click on the video to watch the interview.
