Bethesda's announced Fallout 4 will release November 10th this year.

The date came at the end of a chunky presentation on the game that rounded off Bethesda's hour and a half conference.

Bethesda's Todd Howard took charge of the presentation, detailing the game's opening which - as we thought - begins pre-apocalypse as you join a couple doing their morning ablutions. You'll be able to customise your character as they stare into the bathroom mirror (and choose whether you play male or female). When the end of the world hits, you manage to make it into a nearby Vault, and for reasons yet to be explained awake 200 years later into a whole new world.

The game runs on a next generation version of the company's Creation Engine, which offers the like of volumetric lighting.

You'll be entirely free to explore where you want and do what you want. The V.A.T.S system is confirmed for the game. A large chunk of the presentation showcased the high level of customisation. You'll not only be able to build new weapons and customise armour through scavenging items, and by gathering resources you will be able to build homes that'll draw in communities, and protect them by setting up defence systems such as turrets and electrified fences.

There's plenty more info to come, so keep an eye on the site over the days ahead.

"It's awesome to see a game of this magnitude show up on the VR platform, though it is a shame that it comes with as many issues as it does."
