Riot Games has announced some big changes coming to Fantasy LCS/LEC, a system that lets you build a team each week and compete for points similar to traditional sports, although now this is going to be shut down temporarily for the upcoming Spring Split.

As explained by LCS Commissioner Chris 'Riot Commish' Greeley, "for the last two years, we've kept Fantasy running but we haven't had the opportunity to commit meaningful resources to improve the experience for you. Fantasy hasn't been prioritized and there was never really a plan for its future or development other than to create one and get it out to fans. We've been basically keeping the lights on, and the team maintaining the site has had to use lots of duct tape and band-aids to keep things rolling along. You deserve better."

That's why Fantasy is advancing and Riot are considering its future in both the short and the long-term, but to do this they're shutting it down for the Spring Split so they can focus on rebuilding it. This requires building a new site, and to divert all attention to this the old site has to go offline so they don't have to worry about updating.
