What if someone dropped a big huge bomb in Sweden creating a crater the size of Stockholm and its suburb? That's the premiss of Stockholm based developer Fatshark (Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West, Hamilton's Great Adventure, Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2) asked themselves as they started developing Krater a top-down action-RPG similar to say Diablo or Torchlight.
"We are proud to announce a game that has been on our minds for over 10 years. We have always been fans of the classic top down RPGs, and have wanted to make this game since we started out in the games business", says Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund.
As you can imagine you will be spending your time looting, killing monsters and modifying your equipment down in the crater and there will also be three factions to explore and interact with.
The game is set to be self published by Fatshark, as was Hamilton's Great Adventure, and the developers claim to be aiming for a hardcore PC audience with the game, but no platforms have been confirmed at this point. The engine is cross-platform, so perhaps a console release is also on the cards.
Gamereactor's Jonas Elfving has been privileged enough to get to be a "fly on the wall" as Fatshark started development on the title, so expect a deeper, more thorough look at Krater in the near future. You can also expect an interview with the developers on GRTV shortly.
