Final Fantasy came out swinging at this year's E3, with announcements for three different titles. For a lot of people, the trailer and playable demo for the Final Fantasy VII remake would be the tip of the spear, however, the upcoming DLC for FFXIV is nothing to put aside. Shadowbringers is bringing a whole host of new content to the expansive online title, and to get a look into what makes this DLC so different from the rest we spoke with Naoki Yoshida, the director of the game, at E3 2019.
"Thanks to the efforts of people who came before me, I believe video games have become a sort of culture at this point," Yoshida told us via a translator. "So, I feel that by providing something through the game and being able to feed that back into reality, I wanted to always incorporate something that would allow for that. Up until this point we have been depicting the story as a very straightforward look about light, or your light, but I believe we can bring a new perspective, something that's interesting or just as interesting, by changing our perspective."
Whilst there was a playable demo on the E3 show floor, we've already spent some time with Shadowbringers, seeing how the DLC elevates the fan-favourite title, and you can check out the preview right here. FFXIV: Shadowbringers is set for release on July 2 for PC and PS4.
